Anyone can build a website these days.
It's not difficult. If all you need is an on-line brochure or showcase which will not change very often that may be the most economical way to establish your presence on the internet.
However, you may need something that provides more functionality, that is quickly, easily and reliably updated, that integrates seamlessly with the back-office processes that make things happen.
We can help. We design, develop and implement business systems for the internet and/or your intranet.
Serious Systems are systems that work.
Our systems work for your business and for your customers because they are focussed entirely on your business objectives and the needs of your customers.
Information is presented in a clear, easily comprehensible way and is always simple to navigate, free of gimmicks and easy to keep up-to-date.
Who we are
We are John & Sylvia Downe, independent computer services providers.
John Downe
John has more than 30 years experience in IT, working in various sales and marketing roles for IBM before becoming an independent consultant. He can advise on marketing strategies, including using Google Adwords and mailings to effectively reach your target market.
Sylvia Downe
Since leaving school Sylvia has worked as a systems developer for many companies, large and small, including IBM, Lloyds TSB and Direct Line Insurance both as an employee and as a freelance consultant. She is proficient in business analysis, systems architecture and design as well as the technical implementation. She is used to working to deadlines and within tight budgets. She works to the principle do it right, do it once.
What we do
We specialise in building and enhancing computer systems for small to medium-sized companies.
A typical system usually consists of a back-office component that feeds a public website and provides valuable management information. It could include:
- A database with simple, foolproof data entry processes to keep it up to date
- An attractive, easy to navigate website to display your static and dynamic data, possibly including:
- Google© maps
- Data entry forms
- Picture galleries
- Shopping cart
- Search, filter and sort functions
- RSS feeds, automated email responses and/or regular newsletters to maximise return visits
- A marketing strategy and tools to measure its effectiveness
- Management information - reports, graphs and statistics
